Some of Jain's acclaimed films include Lakshmi and Me (2007), Gulabi Gang (2012) and The Golden Thread (2022). Her recent film Farming The Revolution (2024) won the Best International Documentary award at Hot Docs. She is a Chicken & Egg Award winner (2020); Member of the Academy of Motion Pictures and Sciences (AMPAS); Film Independent Global Media Maker Fellow (2019–20); and recipient of Fulbright-Nehru Academic and Professional Excellence Fellowship (2019) and India's National Film Award. Her films have showcased women's movements against gender and caste oppression, the struggles of jute mill workers and the 2020 farmers' protests in India. Her films The Golden Thread and Farming the Revolution are being screened by Cinema Politica on March 2 and 3.
