Montreal artist and organizer Stefan Christoff presents an interactive workshop exploring the intersections of art and activism. Through local and global examples, Stefan highlights how creative practices support social movements, from migrant justice campaigns in Montreal to international collaborations for Palestine and grassroots street art.

Participants will learn from three key projects:

  1. Supporting Guinean Asylum Seekers in Canada
Stefan discusses the #StatusForAll campaign, which has successfully resisted deportations of Guinean refugees since 2017. The presentation will cover community radio work at CKUT 90.3 FM, street art, and collaborations with the Justseeds artists’ cooperative.

  2. Global Radio Collaborations with Radio AlHara
Stefan shares his work with this grassroots Palestinian radio network. He coordinated international broadcasts featuring poetry, music, and street protest sounds that supported the global movement against the 2023–2024 bombing campaign in Gaza.

  3. Street Art and Activist Posters
Stefan reflects on his street art practice in Montreal and worldwide. Participants will engage in a hands-on session, creating activist poster lettering to express political demands or campaigns emerging from the workshop discussion.

Past presentations have taken place in Victoria, Montreal, Mexico City, Oaxaca, Brooklyn, New York City, Amsterdam, the Bay Area, and Vancouver.
