A short films screening and discussion on community, solidarity, and the neighborhood
2023-06-03 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Brique par Brique Community Centre, 633 Beaumont Ave
Part of Brique par Brique’s “public conversation” series, this program is the culmination of a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) funded partnership between Brique par Brique and Concordia University’s Raah (Media and Migration) Lab. Committed to thinking through questions of community and solidarity, the project that has emerged out of this partnership aims to create a dynamic document of Parc Ex by members of the neighborhood through the form of video diaries as oral histories.
Judy Wong and Meryem Ouadban’s short films are an important and joyful glimpse into the ways in which Parc Ex community members show up for one another, through activism and sport respectively, in the face of increasing gentrification and institutional neglect. The short film screenings will be followed by a conversation with Judy and Meryem facilitated by Faiz Abhuani. The conversation will take place in English, with possibility for translation into French and Hindi.
Join us in celebrating their work! This is a free event and all are welcome! Food and beverages will be available!
