Brique par brique is a nonprofit organization founded in 2016 by community organizers and professionals of colour in order to respond innovatively and from a social justice perspective to the need for affordable housing in the gentrifying and multicultural Parc-Extension neighborhood.
In addition to the development of affordable housing, our cultural centre is a place where we cultivate solidarity and leverage community assets with the goal of improving the living conditions of diverse low-income residents, notably newcomers, asylum seekers and other immigrants facing discrimination. Through our community activities and cultural programs, we facilitate a welcoming and accessible space for expression, with the aim of building bridges between people and organizations, and nurturing the talents and aspirations of people in and beyond Parc-Extension.
Women of Diverse Origins is a grassroots anti-imperialist women's network that organizes public events to educate, discuss and empower!
Femmes de diverses origines, formé des groupes de la base, organise la manifestation annuelle du 8 mars à Montréal.
The Immigrant Workers Centre (IWC-CTI) defends the rights of immigrants in their places of work and fights for dignity, respect, and justice. Some of our principal objectives include:
Teesri Duniya Theatre is an intercultural company that produces relevant plays and community-engaged activities to encourage positive change. We work in and with the communities to foster critical thinking, address injustices, generate cross-cultural dialogue, and create opportunities, by enhancing the representation of diverse, racialized, and marginalized people. Our work bridges Indigenous, multicultural, visible minority, LGBTQ+, and marginalized communities. We give voice to underrepresented communities and infuse art with social responsibility through a decolonizing consciousness. Our primary focus is to produce local plays of global significance while giving each play a distinctly Quebecois voice.
Teesri founded Canada's only diverse theatre quarterly publication, alt.theatre: Cultural Diversity and the Stage (1988-2020), which provided a national forum for artists, activists, and academics to increase the scope of their discourse about diversity and the stage.
Teesri Duniya Theatre won the META for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in 2018, the play Truth and Treason was a finalist at the Quebec Writers Federation in 2018, and a finalist for the YMCA Peace Prize. Teesri was also nominated for numerous META awards for productions of Bhopal, Meet Me, and Tribes!
Teesri Duniya Theatre is a registered charity and will provide a receipt for income tax purposes for donation above $25. Our registered Charity number is 877846147RR0001.
